To all who are spiritually weary and seek rest; who mourn and long for comfort; who struggle and desire hope; who sin and need a savior; who are strangers and yearn for fellowship; who hunger and thirst after righteousness; and to whoever will come…this church opens wide her doors and offers welcome in the name of the risen Lord Jesus Christ.

To know that “it is more than it is” is really encouraging to me. In a way, popular culture today has caused Christians to go to ground; they are careful to keep their religion out of their interactions with people on all occasions except in the ‘clefts’, ‘caves’ and ‘fortresses’ of church on Sunday morning alone. The aspect of this sermon that says discipline is love to wake us up is as applicable today as it was in the time of Gideon. Like Gideon, we have doubts about our calling, but praise God who “strengthens the called” rather than “calling the strong”. Additionally, I was pleasantly surprised to learn about Summer Oak’s plan to return to ORMA. I really pray that God blesses us all in that.
